Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar by his folk-inspired pop hits most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a Mexican-born musician and singer who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's songs that he sang about his state brought many people to Colorado. I can't think of any other performer who embodies Colorado like John Denver said G. Brown director of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Denver was the Hall of Fame's first to be inducted into the hall. Denver has become the image of Colorado for a lot of people across the globe. In my travels I've had the pleasure of meeting individuals who are from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform that you're from Colorado the first words they'll use are Oh John Denver. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads - cowritten with Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo performer after a brief time in small folk groups. Danoff composed the track inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear the song's early versions and was aware that it would become one of the Top 10 hits. The singer recorded the song only a few days afterward after performing it to an enthusiastic audience at Washington D.C.
